Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) in the Department of Peace Operations (DPO) is created and the DDR Section established.

African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) established. In 2018, mandate extended to cooperate with the Government of Sudan on the disarmament process. The mission closes in 2020.
