About the UN Inter-Agency Working Group on DDR

The UN DDR Resource Centre is developed and managed by the UN Inter-Agency Working Group on DDR. The Working Group also performs the following key functions:

  • Provide strategic advice to assist the Organization in improving its work on DDR. This includes among others, advice on the required changes, or adjustments, to the structure and processes in the Organization relating to DDR planning, implementation and monitoring;
  • Maintain and review the developed set of United Nations guidance on DDR, including recommending how such a body of guidance can systematically and periodically reviewed and updated;
  • Advise the Organization on training needs, policies and strategies in the areas of DDR, including coordinating the roll out of this set of guidance to all United Nations partners engaged in DDR;
  • Develop and manage the United Nations DDR Resource Centre;
  • Facilitate planning of DDR operations among relevant UN agencies;
  • Undertake other DDR activities as appropriate.

What is the Aim of the UN DDR Resource Centre?

The UN DDR Resource Centre aims to serve as a one-stop-shop for all DDR-related information. As such, the site houses guidance on DDR (Integrated DDR Standards: IDDRS); DDR country profiles; DDR documents; directory of organizations; DRR tools; information on DDR training, news and events on DDR. The UN DDR Resource Centre welcomes contributions to the site and encourages submission of documents, organizations, information on directory and events.

How can I recommend material to be included in this website?

We are always looking for suggestions on new material, organizations, or events to include on this site. All material included on this site must be DDR related. If you would like to submit something for inclusion on this site, please go to ‘submit’ from the front page. After submission, your recommendation will be reviewed. Please do not forget to include your contact details so that we can contact you for clarifications.

What should I do if I have trouble downloading documents?

Majority of the Documents available at the Resource Center are in the PDF format. You should first make sure that you have the necessary software to download PDF-formatted documents. If you are still experiencing problems you can contact us at info@unddr.org and explain to us the problems you are encountering.

Where can I obtain contact information for DDR practitioners in the field?

Please go to ‘Directory: Who’s Who in DDR’, then ‘Directory of UN DDR Staff’. They can be sorted by UN Agency, duty station and an alphabetical order.

Your inputs are very welcome. You can submit your organization's information from the front page through a submit function. We ask that information be DDR related.

We encourage you to use IDDRS for trainings on DDR. You can find downloadable power-point slides for training at the Training Page under Resources.

Your recommendations/suggestions are welcome. You can send your recommendations/suggestions from the IDDRS page. You will be asked to specify an issue and provide suggestions or recommendations on the issue.

The IDDRS provide a comprehensive overview of DDR. We suggest that you first read the Level 2 which outliens concepts, policy and strategy of DDR. What is DDR page also provides a quick summary of DDR.
